In Memory

Wannita E Nordskog

Wannita Harvey Nordskog passed away peacefully on December 29, 2007 in Glendale, California at the age of 84.  She was a longtime resident of South Pasadena and the un-incorporated area of Pasadena.

Born in Oskaloosa, Iowa in 1923, her family moved to Southern California in the latter 1930s.  She graduated from Chaffey High in Ontario, CA in 1942 and attended Chaffey Junior College, receiving her B.S. in Home Economics from UC Santa Barbara.  She taught cooking, sewing, tailoring, and child development at Whittier High School, Alhambra High, San Diego High School for two years while her husband Ken served in the Navy, and South Pasadena Junior and Senior Highs before her retirement in 1968.  She adored her students and although she kept them to very high standards, she was very popular.  She gave live cooking demonstrations for The Gas Company in Pasadena (a la Rachel Ray) in the mid-60s.  She learned to sail the family 30' sailboat at Dana Point and passed the Coast Guard Auxiliary Seamanship Course.

"Nita" was a compassionate, loving mother.  She enjoyed life and knew how to have fun.  She was an avid Lakers' fan.  Despite suffering numerous medical problems, she maintained a positive attitude.  She remained faithful to the Lord and was an inspiration to many.  She was well liked by acquaintances and loved by friends and family.  We will remember her always and carry her in our hearts forever.

She is survived by daughters, Patti Davis (husband Mike), and Beth Fullerton (husband Mark); and granddaughter Sarah Fullerton; as well as a niece, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Kenneth I. Nordskog, D.D.S.; and a sister, Wilma Helene, both in the year 2000.
