Jan McSilvers

January 20, 1953 - August 13, 2025

I must sadly report the death of my brother, Jan McSilvers, age 72, a 1971 SPHS graduate. He died in a solo motorcycle accident in the Oregon Cascade Mountains near the intersection of Highway 20 and 126 while on his way, with friends, to Sisters, Oregon. Jan had lived in Springfield, Oregon, since 1993.

He was born to John and Clara Cantrell McSilvers in Los Angeles. He graduated from South Pasadena High School in 1971, and from Humboldt County, California Police Academy in 1979. He worked as a contractor for many years, known as Handy Jan. 

Jan was preceded in death by his father and mother, brother Jesse H McSilvers, and one son, Brian McSilvers. He is survived by his spouse, Linda Pitts-McSilvers of Springfield, Oregon, daughter Jessica McSilvers, son Michael McSilvers, and two brothers, James Cantrell and Jerry McSilvers '72.

He died doing what enjoyed most – riding a motorcycle.
