Kathryn 'Kay' Genova (Jones) - Class Of 1954 VIEW PROFILE

Kathryn 'Kay' Genova (Jones)

Kathryn Genova Jones

February 23, 1936 - July 16, 2024

Kathryn Genova Jones passed away in Blairsville, Georgia at age 88. Kay was born and spent 18 years in California but she couldn't have been any more of a southern lady if she had been born and raised in Georgia. Kay's eye for detail and design came in handy in everything she did whether it was cooking, painting her walls (sometimes twice in one day) or deciding to remove a wall in her house.

Wrong shades of paint were no problem for Kay, she just ran to the store, got a different color and painted over the color she didn't like. She could trim out any room without ever taping anything.

One of Kay's favorite things to do was cook for her family. Her spaghetti and meatballs were world famous as were the peaks on her lemon meringue pie. She also loved hosting 'make your own pizza' parties with her signature tapioca for dessert. She was happiest when her family was gathered around the table.

Her decorating skills were beyond compare and she was more than happy and willing to help anyone do anything they needed done including making curtains for her grandkid's rooms. She could take driftwood and flowers and make an arrangement that would take your breath away.

She was always dressed to the nines complete with accessories. Her style was unmatched whether she was cruising in a convertible with her signature white hat or comfy so she could roll around on the floor with her great grands. She is survived by her children Terry (Sherri) Jones and Mickey (Panda) Jones; siblings Carl (Delores) Genova (SPHS '57), Frank (Lily) Genova, and John (Nancy) Genova (SPHS '63); five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her loving husband James Jones and parents Charles and Jennie Genova.

Kay was adored and loved by her family. They will miss her very much but they have wonderful memories to sustain them.
