Nancy Carloss Hemphill

I began teaching for the Garden Grove School District in 1961. Had various teaching jobs in different parts of Southern California. In 1967 I was requited by Punahou School in Hawaii. I taught school in Hawaii off and on for twenty -six years. When I was on furlow from teaching I was a tour guide, Assistant manager of the Outrigger Canoe Club, hostess at The Outrigger WEst Hotel Dining Room, and was supervisor of the food and beverage cashiers at The Hilton Hawaiian Village Hotel. I'll have to tell my stories when I connect with some alumns.

Since graduating from college(USC) I have lived in Garden GRove, Los Angeles, Palm Springs, all in California. Lived in Hawaii for 26 years. Last move was to Vancouver, Washington in 1994. I am considering moving back to Hawaii as I have children and grand children there.

I moved to South Pasadena at the beginning of my junior year. We moved after the death of my dad from cancer.

I would alwayslike to connect with more SPSMHS classmates and friends. I went to the 50th reunion of my class and was able to get reaquainted with many old classmates.

I keep busy with volunteering, information at the district & superior courts and information desk at Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital. Also substitute teach once or twice a week. My daughter has me going to the gym as much as possible. I am a big fan of tennis and football (college football-USC) tennis- never miss the big four championships; have even found away to incorporate tennis into my summer school math class(The French Open) Also attend as much theatre and concerts as possible.

Remember I lived in Hawaii for twenty six years so I have some favorite Hawaiian singers and songs. Kui Lee-"I'll Remember You" IZ- "Some Where Over the Rainbow",The Surfers, Sterling Mossmon ,Olomana, Buddy Fo and the Invitations; Josh Groban, "You Raise Me Up" and just about anything else he sings, Celtic Thunder-all their songs, Aaron Meyer -album "It's the Journey", I still enjoy Manheim SteamRoller too.
