Robert Christiansen

Robert Owen Christiansen, a Stanford graduate '58 (biological sciences), MD '61, of Glendale, California, July 29, 2010.  He was 73.

He was involved with KZSU radio.  He began his career in biomedical research and later worked on the pediatrics faculty at Stanford University Medical Center.  He was the director of the inpatient and critical care division at Martin Luther King Jr./Charles R. Drew Medical Center and professor of pediatrics at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science until his retirement.  He had a lifelong love of opera and early music.

He was predeceased by his life partner, Sam DeCastro.  Survivors include his son, Mark; two grandchildren; his former wife Janis (Wilcox, '58); and a sister.
