D'Arcy Downing Skinner, 88, of San Diego, California passed away following complications from a severe stroke he suffered in March. He was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.

D'Arcy was born to Neil and Dorothy Skinner in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. D'Arcy's family moved from Sherbrooke to Victoria, BC, and then later immigrated to the United States. He spent his teenage years growing up in Southern California and graduated from South Pasadena High School in 1955. He went on to get a degree in history at Occidental College, and later served in the Air National Guard. He became a naturalized US citizen to do so. D'Arcy spent his career as an insurance agent, beginning his career at Aetna and later running his own Farmers Insurance Agency in Denver, Colorado for most of his career.

D'Arcy lived most of his life in Denver. He spent 42 years there and considered Denver to be his home. He spent the last 15 years living in San Diego where he lived down the street from his daughter and her family, as he battled cancer over the remainder of his life.

D'Arcy was an avid history, art, music, and nature enthusiast. He volunteered for the Denver Symphony for many years. He learned to play piano in his senior years and enjoyed music from many genres. He loved nature and wildlife, and especially loved spending time in his beloved Rocky Mountains. He wrote poetry and joined a poetry group at his church. He enjoyed many friends and cherished his GA group and at his Unitarian church groups in both Denver and San Diego.

D'Arcy was predeceased by his father and mother; brother Albert Skinner; and his beloved dogs, Moppet and Gomer. He is survived by his daughter, Beth Ann Skinner Garcia; son, Brian D'Arcy Skinner; five grandchildren, sister, Karen Sahlin; as well as loving family members and his cherished family dog, Winston.
