Alan Corbett Hine

Alan Hine

January 15, 1938 - February 12, 2025

Alan, age 87, passed away in Bakersfield, California. Born in Los Angeles, Alan lived a full and meaningful life marked by dedication to family, career, and community.

Alan graduated from South Pasadena High School before continuing his education at Fresno State University. He went on to build a successful career in the insurance industry, spending the last 30 years of his career with Walter Mortensen Insurance (now Insurical), where he was known for his professionalism and commitment. Beyond his work, Alan served his country as a medic in the Army during the Korean War.

Family was at the heart of Alan's life. He is survived by his son Curtis (Stephanie) Hine; daughter Kristen (Curtis) Logan; and two granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Cathryn Hine; brother, Elliott Hine (SPHS '53); first wife Carol Hine; and second wife Barbara Ann Hine.

Alan's greatest joy came from spending time with his granddaughters who lovingly knew him as "Gramps." His passion for bringing people together extended beyond family - he was known for hosting unforgettable gatherings, organizing trips to see live theater and planning an annual fishing trip to Alaska. He enjoyed traveling the world with his wife Ann and many of their friends over the years.

A retired member of the Bakersfield West Rotary Club, Alan was recently honored at their 50th anniversary event as a past president. His commitment to 'service above self' reflected his deep connection to the community. Another cherished tradition was Friday night dinners at The Red Pepper - a ritual he shared with his beloved Ann for over 30 years and later continued with his daughter and her family. Alan will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His warmth, generosity, and love for life will remain in the hearts of those he touched.
