John, born September 29, 1938, passed away July 30, 2019 due to a heart condition, in Roseville, California. He is survived by his sister, Clara Kaplan Hackett '53.
When I think of John, Kappy to his friends, I can't help but think of baseball, a game he loved and played well. He was the catcher on the championship baseball team of 1956. He was a quiet presence and I never heard a negative comment made about him. I don't think too many of us knew much about John's personal life, but on one occasion I was invited along with his church group to his home where his father roasted a lamb in the ground. John seemed very proud to be the host at the party. Kappy was one of the nicest of our classmates..
