Wilbur S 'Bud' Robertson, born November 3, 1928, died in Costa Mesa on February 2, 2013. He was 84 years old. He is survived by his six children; Lisa, Bill, Linda, Jill, Kathleen, and Rick.
My uncle, Bud Robertson, attended USC on a football scholarship as a quarterback. He remembered each game, particularly the 1948, 49-0 loss to Michigan in the Rose Bowl. After graduating, he was featured with John Derek in a movie about football, "Saturday's Heroes" and served in the U.S. Navy. He went on to be a successful businessman and entrepreneur, establishing the foundry that made "Western Wheels". He will be missed by his children and grandchildren.

Bud was my first "date" in 8th grade. We went to a movie with his sister and her boyfriend. He brought me a box of Valentine candy on his bicycle, along with Perry Osborne who brought a valentine to Mary McCabe. He was the star quarterback at SPSMHS when my cousin Judy Frawley, Sally Kieffer and I were cheer leaders. He went on to break many more hearts and win many football games. It's great that he has left a large family to remember him. He will be missed.
