Charles Morlan - Class Of 1946

Charles Morlan

Charles Kenyon Morlan passed away February 6, 2021, in Rocklin, California at age 92. He was born July 1, 1928 in Los Angeles to Malcom and Katharine Morlan. Chuck is survived by three children:  Mark Morlan, Leslie (Don) Janelle, and Kim (Steve) Woodward. Chuck's feisty spirit will be remembered by his six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Donal Morlan, son Greg, and brother, Robert (SPHS '38).

Chuck spent his childhood in South Pasadena and later graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara (Kappa Sigma fraternity) in 1950 with a Psychology degree. After college, Chuck served in the US Army and then spent 31 years working for The Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company in a variety of departments. After retiring in 1984, he enjoyed participating in the Northern California Telephone Pioneers and SIR organizations. Chuck's love of learning helped him embrace new technologies throughout life--getting his first iPhone at age 90 and trading stocks online until his final days. Chuck enjoyed golf, long walks (at the Morlan pace), playing the slot machines and traveling. His travels included China, New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, Tahiti, Europe, and many cruises along the way. Chuck's love for cruising began in 1937 when he cruised across the Pacific Ocean for the first time with his mom to Hawaii, a place that remained special to him throughout his life. He cherished every trip to the islands.
