Anita Buscaglia Montpas
March 28, 1928 - March 5, 2025
Anita was born in Los Angeles, the only child of Italian immigrants Mario Ernesto Buscaglia and Angela Maria Punaro. She was raised in South Pasadena and lived in Southern California her entire life. Those closest to her called her 'Neet'.
She met James Montpas and they fell in love while both were attending Pasadena City College. They were married June 1949, were blessed with six children, and had a long and happy marriage for 65 years.
Beginning in 1957, they became long time-residents of Arcadia and were active members of Holy Angels Catholic Church. In addition to volunteering in her children's classrooms, Anita was an avid bowler with the Holy Angels League and continued to bowl into her 90s until Covid shut down the alley. She also enjoyed golf and playing bocce with her extended family. Anita was an active member of the Garibaldina Society, an Italian social benefit organization. She moved to Royal Oaks in Bradbury where she lived independently for the past 10 years. Anita was a true blue Dodger supporter as well as a faithful fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Anita's family is grateful for the many happy memories she has given them to cherish, especially for their wonderful family trips, Christmases spent together, family birthday celebrations, and for teaching them to play chair volleyball and bocce. They will always remember her being a lot of fun and for her generosity, thoughtfulness, and love.
Anita is survived by her children James, Deborah (Brian), Mark (Eileen), Tom (Kori), and Angela; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy, in 2022 and by her husband, James, in 2014.
