Mary Belle Dunsmoor (Clark) - Class Of 1945

Mary Belle Dunsmoor (Clark)

Mary Belle Dunsmoor Clark was born July 14, 1927, and passed away December 13, 2020. At age 93, Mary Belle had a rich and full life. Mary Belle and husband John were married for 60 years and have two daughters, Maggie and Barbara, as well as two granddaughters. She was steeped in family history, being a fifth generation Californian as well as a Daughter of the American Revolution.

She graduated from South Pasadena High School and USC with a major in design marketing. After college she worked for CF Braun and left to raise her children. She later rejoined the work force, becoming office manager for Cotton Beland, an environmental impact consulting firm. Mary Belle devoted much of her time to charitable groups, being involved with National Charity League, PEO, and AXO Alumni Association for USC. In 1978 Mary Belle started a Christmas brunch for some of Maggie's high school girlfriends. That brunch continues today (20 attendees in 2020) and has provided a lasting connection of friendship.

John and Mary Belle retired to Sun Lakes 23 years ago, where she enjoyed the Happy Cookers, Quilt Guild, Lifestyles Magazine, and the Friendship Club. She was most proud of her time working on the AAUW Math Science Fair where she helped introduce 8th grade girls to women professionals, showing them their possibilities. Mary Belle loved summers at the beloved beach house on Balboa Island with their children growing up. She also enjoyed playing cribbage with her mother. Mary Belle loved to travel. She visited Europe a number of times and also explored the Panama Canal, China, Alaska, and Russia. Our mother/wife holds a special place in our hearts. We will miss her but are fortunate to have had all the time we had together.
