Rene Villascas Hernandez

Rene Hernandez

April 2, 1963 - April 2, 2021

Rene, a lifelong resident of South Pasadena died at age 57 in Alhambra from various health issues including kidney disease. He is survived by his mother, Gloria Hernandez of South Pasadena, sisters, Margot Hernandez Guevara '76 of San Gabriel, Ruby Hernandez '77 of Ontario, Lynda Hernandez Harris '79 of Alhambra, and Raquel Hernandez Hammerstrom '87 of La Verne; and his beloved African Grey named Miser.

Rene was a rabid fan of our local sports teams:  Rams, Lakers, Raiders, Dodgers, and especially the LA Kings. He was also a volunteer for South Pasadena's Rose Parade float every year in construction and for many years driving the float through Pasadena. He loved fishing, PGA Events Golf, motorcross, off-roading in Gorman, bowling, tennis, camping, and cruising trips, especially to Mexico. He loved Oingo Boingo concerts and the Three Stooges. He was an excellent cook and great with BBQ, brisket, and menudo. Rene had various jobs:  Foremost Liquor, Rene's Sprinkler Service and Absolute Landscaping and was a great handyman. He was also a strong opponent of the 710 Freeway extension.

Rene is now pain free, in peaceful heaven, smiling down on all of us. He will truly be missed. Rest in Paradise...
