Laura past away at her home in Anacortes, Washington, just days before her 69th birthday. Laura was a remarkable woman whose life was defined by her intellect, generosity, and dedication to her community. The daughter of Albert and Ruth (Tuomala) Tillman, who preceded her in death, Laura grew up in Freeport, Bahamas and Southern California. She graduated from South Pasadena High School before continuing her education at the University of Southern California and Cal Poly Pomona, earning a BA, BS, MA, and MS.

In 1981, Laura married Jonathan Winningham, with whom she built a life filled with love, shared purpose, and family. Laura began her career as a librarian in Monrovia and Glendora before joining Crafton Hills College in Yucaipa in 1983 as an Assistant Professor. Over the course of more than 30 years, Laura advanced to become Library Director and retired as an Emeritus Professor. At Crafton, she left an indelible legacy by guiding the library through the construction of a modern facility and establishing scholarships in honor of her friends and family.

Beyond her academic achievements, Laura was deeply committed to public service. She was a founding member of the Board of Commissioners for Calimesa, California, and was instrumental in founding the Calimesa Public Library. She also volunteered as an officer for the Glendora Police Department and with the National Forest Service.

Laura was a woman of boundless energy and purpose, always seeking to improve the lives of others. She cherished her family and is survived by her husband, Jonathan Winningham; her son, Michael Winningham of Anacortes, Washington; her daughter, Brandi (John) Juby, and granddaughter Sunshine Juby of Redlands; her brother, Thomas Tillman, and his family of Orcas Island, Washington; and her beloved companion, her Boston Terrier, Dallas.
