David Currey
May 13, 1943 - July 15, 2023
Today I lost my last living brother. David Currey '61 passed away in St George, Utah. He loved saying his roots were from South Pasadena. With the continuing guidance of Coach Solari, Dave had a very successful coaching career including two trips to the Rose Bowl with Stanford University, head coach at University of Cincinnati, assistant at UCLA and winding up the AD at Chapman University in Orange County. Another Tiger goes to heaven.

Sorry to learn of Dave's passing. He played on the first Tiger CIF football champs (1959). Dave
played behind all world running back, Donnie Johnson. On most teams, Dave would have started, but
Donnie had that secured. When he did play, Dave accounted very well for himself. Dave was a nice fella, unassuming and not taken by himself. My condolences to his family and many friends. RIP, Dave.

Dear Scott,
I am very sorry you have lost another brother, both wonderful men. I was happy to reconnect with Dave when my husband was Athletic Director at Azusa Pacific University and Dave's school would play football against APU. He always had a great, warm, smile.
My dad frequently talked about the "Currey Boys," as special young men who worked with him at his Vet Hospital.
Life is special. Your knowledge that you will spend eternity with them, I am sure helps you through these tough times of grief.
Sincerely, Gayle Stewart Odell
