Judith Monroe (Ketchum)

Judith Monroe Ketchum

January 2, 1925 - April 30, 2021

Judith Ketchum grew up in South Pasadena, California. In 1947 she married Marshall Ketchum, and they moved to Illinois where he attended seminary and served a rural church. Over the next 40 years, she was an active minister's wife and leader in the church, assisting Marshall in his ministry in California and Arizona, lending an ear and a shoulder to parishioners who sought her counsel.

They raised three children in a loving and devoted family. In 1987, Judy and Marshall moved to Baker Home for Retired Ministers in Rowland Heights, California. They enjoyed neighbors from Asia, Latin America, and the US. They traveled to Europe, Asia, and the South Pacific and continued their interest in sailing. They taught oil painting, and an art show of their own work included over 100 paintings.

Judy was an avid reader. She was interested in literature, history, politics, and social justice. After nearly 70 years of marriage, Marshall preceded Judy in death in 2017. In late April, she suffered a stroke. She passed away peacefully at home at age 96, surrounded by family.

She is survived by her children, Anne Marie (Aurelio) De La Vega, Bill and Ruth; twin sister Anne Monroe Jennings (SPHS '43) and many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and -nephews.
