Warren Barlow Smith - Class Of 1944

Warren Barlow Smith

Warren passed away peacefully in Napa Valley on February 4, 2012.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence and Mumford Smith; his brother Stanley Smith (SPHS '41); and his beloved wife, Jeanne McCaffrey Smith.  He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Barr and Ann Smith of Calistoga, California, Sarah and Frank Oxarart of Tracy, CA., and Nancy Smith of Ventura.  Warren is also survived by three grandchildren, Alyssa Smith of Benicia, Zachary Smith of Durango, Colorado, and Dillon Mansell of Ventura.

Warren was born in Los Angeles on July 17, 1926 and raised in South Pasadena, graduated from Occidental College in 1949 after serving in World War II.  In 1951 he started work with the Upjohn Company, from which he retired 37 years later.

In 1952, Warren and Jeanne married and raised their family in Newport Beach, where they loved to take their boat to Catalina with their children.  In 1994, they, along with Barr and Ann, moved to Calistoga to pursue their dream of owning a vineyard.  Warren and Jeanne, when not traveling (Seabourn cruising was a favorite), lived in Calistoga helping to develop Barlow Vineyards until their deaths.

Warren Barlow Smith, Class of '44, passed away February 4, 2012 in Napa Valley California, following a lengthy illness.  He lived next door to me in South Pas when we both were born.

He was a member of the Class of '44 reunion planning committee for years and years.  Another Tiger gone to the great Tiger den in the sky.
