Charlene Belt (Holt)

Charlene Belt Holt, 92, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died April 27, 2021 in Albuquerque, New Mexico after a long and wonderful life. Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings, and her loving husband Ira Holt. Charlene is survived by her four children, Michael (Elaine) Holt, Shelley Plath, Cindy (Michael) Wade and Matthew (Diane) Holt. She is also survived by her 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Charlene was born March 25, 1929, the last of five children born to Nina and Carle Belt of San Marino. She spent most of her early years and into her twenties in California where she met the love of her life, Ira. They were married in Midland, Texas in 1952. From there they began their wonderful life having children and moving around as Ira was in the military. They finally settled in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1957. They retired to the beautiful town of Hamilton, Montana in 1985. Charlene moved back to Albuquerque to be near her children after the death of Ira in 2019.

Charlene had a genuine love for life. She loved to garden, watch the Montana wildlife, travel and have yearly visits from her family. One of her favorite places to visit was Catalina Island which also became one of her family's treasured places to visit with her. Her real joy was her faith. Charlene served her God with a zeal many would love to imitate. She loved being in her ministry work and served as a regular pioneer for more than the last 20 years of her life. She participated in the ministry several days a week until her death.
