John Leonard Mudge - Class Of 1947

John Leonard Mudge

John was born June 28, 1929 in South Pasadena, California to John Rexford and Louise Leonard Mudge.  He passed to eternal life September 4, 2012, in Springfield, Oregon.

John grew up in South Pasadena, where he met his future wife at South Pasadena High School.  He is a graduate of Claremont McKenna College, served in the U.S. Army, was the vice president of a recreational vehicle manufacturing company and had served in the lay ministry in the Episcopal church since 1964.  For the last 16 years, John spent countless hours as a caregiver for the garden of St. John's church, as well as being the treasurer and fundraiser for the church and Bandon preschool.

John is survived by his wife of 61 years, The Reverend Canon Barbara Mudge (SPHS '48); daughter Suzanne Mudge Donahower; two sons, Stephen Mudge and James Mudge; six grandchildren; sister, Lisa Mudge Meckel (SPHS '50); brother-in-law, Richard T Covington (SPHS '64); and sister-in-law, Patricia Covington Elliott (SPHS '54).
