Joseph H Wright

Joseph Howe Wright, age 84, passed away on May 24, 2014 surrounded by family. He was born on August 9, 1929 in Compton, California to Joseph and Charlotte Stites Wright. He served his country for four years in the United States Navy. After his enlisted time he worked as an engineer for the Navy with the majority of time spent at the US Navy Weapons Evaluation Facility in New Mexico. He retired in 1993 and he and his wife traveled, and moved to Mesquite, Nevada.

Joe obtained his real estate license and worked with his wife, Jackie in real estate for a few years. They later moved to Henderson, Nevada where they have lived since 2000. Joe was a humble, kind, thoughtful, and caring man of integrity. He was a very loving husband and enjoyed spending time with his wife and his dogs. He had a great love for his dogs, Oreo, Kookie, and buttons, which were his babies. He also spent time playing computer games and being on the computer, enjoyed listening to music and especially to Arthur Lymans Hawaiian music. He loved traveling, going to Hawaii, and eating New Mexico green chili.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents and two wives, Jane Babcock and Bonita Slavic. He is survived by his current wife Jacklyn Matthess-Smith Wright whom he married in 1997. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Marjorie Wright Morris (SPHS '38) and Joan Wright Beeley (SPHS '44). He is survived by his three children, Anita Roseburrough, Ray Wright, Brian Wright, and four stepchildren; and 14 grandchildren. He is and will be deeply missed. He will be in our hearts forever!
