Lois Cadinha Loubey was a devoted mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend who found the most comfort enjoying time with those she loved. Although enduring serious health challenges the last five years, her hopeful outlook and sparkling, sharp wit rarely diminished. She had an amazing collective of dedicated family members and close friends who ensured she knew how special and loved she has always been.

Loving parents George and Irene Cadinha joyfully welcomed their baby girl, Lois Ann, in Honolulu, Hawaii. The couple proudly raised their two children within the Catholic faith on the island of Oahu, the source of many cherished memories. After their son moved to the mainland to attend college, they moved and settled in Alhambra, California shortly thereafter in 1957, when Lois was 12 years old. In her storytelling, Lois recalled that education was a top priority in the Cadinha home. After graduating from high school in 1963, Lois immediately began her undergraduate studies at Holy Names University. Despite her grandmother's stern counsel to complete college prior to any other interests, Lois married her high school sweetheart, Donald Loubey, before graduating. Honoring her own goal, she diligently completed her degrees with honors without delay, earning dual Bachelors of Art. Without interruption, Lois continued her post-graduate studies, earning a Master of Fine Arts in Vocal Perfromance.

Lois's pride and joy, David William, was born in 1969, and with the support of her own parents, the whole family grew stronger together. Beginning her career as a high school music instructor, she sharpened her skillset and continued to enjoy the company and energy of teenagers. From 1973 to 1979 she taught French at South Pasadena High School. In the summer of 1979 the family moved to Vancouver, Washington. By 1982 she secured her position as Mt View High School's French teacher, and fond memories were created.

Speaking and teaching French were her two finest passions and blending her desire for world travel, Lois led student exchange groups to France during many summers over her 30+ years at Mt View. Madame Loubey was the kind of teacher you don't ever forget. Countless students remained in touch with her over the years. Following her retirement, she received heartfelt tokens of appreciation and numerous shared stories of the impact she had on their entire lives, decades after their time with her. During her career, Lois was honored by the City of Aubergenville, France for her service to their community related to her cultural exchange efforts. In her last decade of teaching she was honored nationally with the Christa McAuliffe Excellence in Teacher Education Award.

Lois was a beautiful lady with a special mix of humble courage that she wove into the fabric of her life. She will be greatly missed, but always fondly remembered. She is survived by her son, David; her three granddaughters and three wondrous great-grandchildren.
