I had Mrs. Murguia for 9th grade English. We were in one of the trailers that year while the junior high went through renovations. She ran a tight ship, was slightly intimidating, and was a no nonsense teacher. Looking back, she was one of my best teachers. She expected a lot of us and, as I recall, we delivered. I know I did! Her teaching style was quiet but strong. I believe her English class was the first I had where she expected us to think critically, something that carried me well through my college years and beyond.
