South Pasadena chemist, E. Ord Slater, Jr., was killed instantly when his auto crashed into a concrete abutment on the Benton Way overpass of the inbound Hollywood Freeway early December 4, 1959.

Ord was the beloved son of Elmer O. Slater, brother of Mrs. Janice E. Parker, Mrs. Edith L. Andrews, and Mrs. Catherine C. Martin (SPHS '47); and nephew of Mrs. Edith L. Lamson.
