Joel Shapiro

April 28, 1942 - February 10, 2025

I am sad to report the passing of my cousin Joel. His family lived on Buena Vista at Fremont, and he attended grammar school in South Pas. The family moved in the early 1950s and he later graduated from Beverly Hills High School and Whittier College, before becoming a CPA. Despite his relatively short stay in South Pas, he maintained friendships with several of his/our classmates, and eagerly joined us at our 55th Reunion dinner.

Joel had a prodigious memory and was an avid storyteller, making him great fun to be around. His passion, beyond his wonderful family, was antique cars, particularly American cars. He began his collection at age 16, and had something upward of 50 cars when he passed.

He is survived by his wife Toshimi, his daughter Sharon and three precocious granddaughters.
