Derek Shannon

January 24, 1948 - July 22, 2025

Derek Porter Shannon - beloved husband, brother, father, and friend - died after a recent diagnosis of chronic myelomonocytic leukemia. He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Gail Shannon, his sons Brian and Chris, and his sister Wendy and brother Court.

Derek grew up in South Pasadena attending SP schools through junior high. He graduated from Polytechnic School in Pasadena. After attending the University of New Mexico, Derek apprenticed as a carpenter, founded his own construction business in 1978, and went on to run a successful business in general construction that focused on commercial spaces. Many people loved him and will miss him.
