Richard passed away on August 6, 1998 from lung cancer that was the result of his exposure to agent orange during his multiple tours of duty in Viet Nam. He had just turned 49. Rick had been an electrical contractor for many years and returned to school in his mid-30s to become an aircraft mechanic. He truly loved working for Northwest Airlines and quickly advanced to being a crew chief. The other genuine love of his life was that of being the father of our ten children. He was looking forward to being a grandfather, an opportunity he didn't live long enough to experience. Even after nearly 11 years of his absence we miss his love and laughter and presence in our lives. Vicki
Richard was my first friend when we moved to South Pasadena in '63. We lived a couple doors up from Mr and Mrs Garrett on Crestlake Ave and I can still remember Richard coming up to my front door to introduce himself. We spent hours playing basketball and boxing in my backyard. He was a loyal friend and I'm sorry we lost touch over the years. God bless him and his family and thank you Richard for your service (it come as no surprise).. RIP
