US Army: Enlisted right out of high school, served with the occupation forces in Japan.

US Air Force: Fighter pilot and Forward Air Controller (over 5,000 flight hours and 320 combat missions), aeronautical engineer, engineering & logistics management, technical intelligence.

After retiring from the Air Force, worked for Lockheed for several years before retiring a second time.
