Occupation Title Baker
Occupation(s), Career Details

I started working after not working outside the home since children entered the scene. I am the baker at a family-run restaurant here in Fairbanks. I so love my job. The Cookie Jar started 27 years ago making cookies for other restaurants and grew from there. I bake their bread (white, wheat, 8 grain), hamburger buns, biscuits, pies, cakes, decorate sugar cookies. It's a great creative outlet for me. I love the folks I work with.

Different places I have lived

In 1991 we moved to Colorado. In 1996 we moved to Vancouver, B.C. for three years while Dave (my husband) attended graduate school. We moved back to Colorado and stayed for 3 years. In 2002 we moved to southern Illinois. in October of 2010 we left southern Illinois and moved north, wayyyy north. Dave did his graduate work in Vancouver, Canada and we loved it so much we were determined to move to the NW eventually. God led us to the extreme. We are in Fairbanks, Alaska. I think Fairbanks holds the record for most extreme temps. It can get to the high 90s in the summer (tho we haven't seen this) and as cold as 60 below (we've felt 50 below - not fun). We love it here. It's a challenging place to live, physically and mentally but it's the friendliest place I've ever lived. God is so good. Dave is serving as associate pastor at First Presbyterian Church. Diane Oliver has been up here. She lives in Juneau, several hundred miles south...but still Alaska.

Family members who also went to SPHS

Pauline Kaidasz Solliday, 1974

Other SPHS graduates I keep in touch with are:

Tricia WInter Johnson, Margaret von Bibra Gill
