I just read in an aviation magazine that Hollis flew among the first P-51 A "Apache's" (later called Mustangs) into combat in 1942 for the Royal Air Force. Hill has the unique and exeptional distinction of being the first pilot to shoot down an enemy aircraft in a P-51, a Focke Wulf 190 near Dieppe France in June 1942.

Ah Denny, we all have to go but your departure is a big one in my heart. Calm, wise, competent talented and giving, all of the components of a great human being resided in your lanky frame. If your obituary is accurate, as I am sure it is, you made no waste of your gifts.

Joe was a celebrity in Jr high. Why?, because he got a drivers license 3 weeks after his 14th birthday. Us boys from Huntington who had to take the 'special' to school woud see him tooling down Huntington drive in the morning in his 32' or 34' 5 window coupe and be green with envy. Rest in peace Joe.
