In 1976 we were living in San Diego and I took a job with Rohr Industries in Chula Vista. An early assignment was to amend the benefit plans to comply with ERISA and thus a career was born. In 2010 I started work as West Coast ERISA counsel for Jackson Lewis LLP, a firm with about 700 lawyers country wide. A few years ago I was elected to the American College of Employee Benefit Counsel. I taught the course in Employee Benefits Law for LLM students for four years at Loyola Law School. I recall Ms. Destro in 8th grade suggesting a trade as I was not college material. Effective January 1,2020 after 48 years of practicing mostly employee benefit law I took inactive status with the California Bar.

My mom graduated with SPHS which is why we moved to SP when I started 4th grade. Brother Kim was four years behind me at So. Pas. We both graduated from what is now Claremont McKenna College.

Still an active Christian Scientist. Scouting was the only thing that got me through Junior High School.

My area of the law involves a lot of change and hence a lot of reading. Spent several weekends working through the Affordable Care Act. Add in gardening, chores, cooking and food shopping, and raising two sons and I realized at some point I missed the party. Bummer! I wonder if you ever feel that you have the right balance of work, family and cutting up. Overall, I have achieved most of what I wanted to achieve family wise and career wise even if the goals changed a bit along the way. The trick now is to find some new goals or interests which is proving a bit elusive. Alternatively, can satisfaction be found?

Classical, folk and jazz. Connie was a singer in groups for many years so we have season tickets to the LA Master Choral as well as the La Philharmonic.

Working, some travel, classical music, taking care of stately Knight Manor, cooking, watching my grandchildren's sports and performances and saving for their higher education. A couple of years ago I renewed an old interest in stadium jumping horseback riding. Continue to be interested in music, LA Phil and Master Chorale and home stereo.
In early 2015, Connie and I spent nearly three weeks in Vietnam, having missed the chance in the '60s. We met a student (Ngoc), who was finishing up her BA and decided to sponsor her for an MA at Loyola Marymount. She returned home August 2016. In December 2018, Ngoc returned for a 6 week visit. Subsequently we Skype each Saturday night. Lately, we have also sponsored students from Japan and a return of the AFS student (this time with family) from Ukraine who lived with us while the boys were in high school.

Not looking forward to retirement as I will then have no excuse for cleaning out the garage and attic of over forty years worth of semi valuable stuff. Since currently stuck at home due to virus I have started this. Ugh!

Things you probably don't know about me: I really like to travel. But not to just see buildings but to meet the locals, share a meal, learn about how they live, what they think, what is important to them. Been doing all the cooking for the last many years and I don't mind doing the dishes. In early 2020 we spent 3 weeks in Singapore and Thailand and upon return I have attempted to recreate Thai food. I went to pre-school with Gretchen, Ted Hoffman, Serge, Palmerston, Durfee, Jennifer Hartzell, Bill McIntosh and my wife.
