Rob Phair - Class Of 1963

Rob Phair

Robert Phair (February 5, 1946 - October 23, 2020) was born in Pasadena, the first son of Mary Ida Knight '38 and Robert Phair '37. He attended South Pasadena High School with his brother Randy Phair '67 and received a bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of the Pacific in 1967. At UOP, he met the love of his life Randa Blount. They were married at her parent's home in Denver, Colorado in June 1968.

At both SPHS and UOP, Rob's competitive nature helped him excel in sports such as baseball, basketball, and football. In 1991, Rob started his own business Falcon Fuels, a wholesale supplier of petroleum energy products, and continued to successfully run the company. Rob and Randa spent many years living in Long Beach and moved to Orange County in 1998. An avid golfer, Rob was a member of Virginia Country Club in Long Beach, and later a member of Shady Canyon Gold Club in Irvine, where they lived. In 2013, he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and underwent a stem cell transplant at the City of Hope. In most recent years, Rob enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sports games and traveling the world with his wife and good friends.

In 2018, Rob and Randa celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family at Flathead Lake in Montana. Rob was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be remembered for his infectious spirit, irreverent sense of humor and loyal heart. Rob is survived by Randa, his wife of 52 years; daughter and son-in-law Rory and Tim O'Neill; son Lucas Phair; daughter and son-in-law Eden and Michael Manning; and five grandchildren.

So many glorious times together.  So many adventures.  So many laughs.  Wish you were still here for more.  You remain in my brain and heart.

You were my first crush in grammar school and I only have wonderful feelings and fantastic memories all through our younger years. I remember your visit to Hawaii and the many laughs we had.  I miss you already and so enjoyed seeing you at our reunions.

Rest In Peace,

Diane Spinaio

I first met Rob, after I moved to So. Pas. from Canada. We went to different grammer schools, and met at Little League baseball. Played thru Middle league, and then when I transferred to So. Pas. my junior year. He was a great athlete always with a warm smile and dancing eyes. You will be missed Robbie, my prayers for your family !
