School Memories
Education was excellent; good friends; good people; I graduated in the year of the streaker: I remember a group of us sitting in a courtyard hearing bare feet on pavement as a streaker ran by; I remember Mr. Butcher threatening to make any streaker walk back with him to the office if he caught them! I think he actually caught one. Can't remember who...Sang in two school musicals: The King and I and Music Man; Had the time of my life in both musicals! The awesome smell of freshly baked butter cookies in the morning and standing in line for them; Mrs. Howorth's class - one day a student in our class brought their dog to class - Mrs. Howorth listened to the student's plight about having to keep the dog with them until they could make sure the dog safely got home. Mrs. Howorth had a big heart and allowed the dog to stay in class. As she was seated on her stool (classic Mrs. Howorth pose), reading a poem, we watched in amazement and awe as the dog squatted and did his business behind her back - she couldn't understand why we were laughing until she turned around and was probably horrified to see what the dog had done in her classroom - we were evacuated from the class in hysterics! Fun, lazy days with my best friends, Mary Jo ("Joi") and Susan ("Luke"). Lots and lots of other people and friends, the Verdells (Dave [1973]and Tim, both now gone); Writing library passes as Marian Paroo and getting away with it.
