Milestones & Epiphanies
51 Years of Marriage to a wonderful wife, mother and companion--from Rome, Italy. David and Olivia (my son and daughter), and two grandsons (Lucian, Julian and Owen), and a granddaughter (Zora Jane). Two Masters Degrees--Boston University and the Naval War College (my coach and counselor told me to learn a trade because I would never succeed in academics). Question authority!
Pastimes & Hobbies
Walking (formerly running), outdoors, traveling, conversation with my wife and friends; reading--especially 18th-20th Century US, World History. Thank you to my history and civics/political science teachers at SPHS and PCC! I will have published a history book--"Limited War, from the American Revolution to the Iraq War," by September, 2023.
Favorite Music, Songs, Bands
50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and current popular/rock music, blue grass, blues....... I sing Karaoke 3-4 times a week.
History--I love the Oxford history series, biographies, etc. In retirement I am writing a book on "Limited War." My interest is to influence the governments, militaries, and the citizens of nations contemplating the entry into war, to answer 30-plus questions before supporting; or not supporting the entry into war. According to the author of "On War," Carl von Claueswitz, not including this "trinity," will undoubtedly lead to disaster. (I explain all this in my soon-to-be-published book.)
[Date] What's happening in my life now
The latest milestone is our retirement from federal service. We bought a home outside Daytona Beach, Florida--just an hour from my daughter, son-in-law, and three grandchildren. Currently, writing a book on "Limited War," based on my experiences in the military and attendance at the Naval War College.
One last comment...
High School was not my favorite time in life--although, I still think often of some of my friends from that period--great people I am sure have done much for others--for children as teachers, for their country--some gave their lives--they honor us all. My living on the East Coast and Europe, has made it difficult to see any of my friends.
