Thomas Ashby - Class Of 1965

Thomas Ashby

Tom Ashby

May 12, 1947 - September 17, 2022

Tom was a native son of South Pasadena and retained his roots here after graduating from the local school system. He originally became involved as a coach and referee in AYSO soccer. He later coached the girls soccer team at the South Pasadena High School. His teams became a dynamic force to be reckoned with in years to come. Under his guidance, they won numerous championships in league play and a CIF championship.

He was a fixture at Tiger sporting events as he rooted for his offspring at the various programs. Even after they had graduated, he continued to attend games to support our local athletes. He was also inducted into the Tiger Sports Hall of Fame for his athletic achievements. After his retirement, he would be spotted in the stands with his best friend, Bob Weaver, at many games.

His passing is a huge loss to the local sports scene and community at large. He was 75 years young at his death.

My Tom is my best friend and husband of 51 years. A wonderful father and grandfather. He loves The Rolling Stones, and vacations with family at Lake Almanor and Lake Havasu. I love him so deeply, my heart is 💔 and sad. Tom is loved and missed forever until we meet in Heaven 💞

Kathleen,  I am so sorry for your's and our loss of Tom.  He was such an easy going guy and fun to be around.  I have some good memories of him including many years ago down at the Colorado River, and two years ago sitting with him and Bob Howe at a football game.  When I lost Donna last year someone wrote to me and said: "Grief never ends, but it changes.  It is a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith.  It is the price of love."  Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you. My best to you and your familly,  Vic Marovish
