Peter Mark

Peter Mark

January 5, 1957 - August 16, 2022

I am sorry to report that our friend and classmate, has passed away. I was so happy to see Pete for what turned out to be the last time at the Grand Reunion picnic in June 2022. I gave him a big hug! He shared that he had been struggling with ALS and although he could still walk, he was experiencing extensive impairment. He knew his time left was short, but I had no idea how short.

Peter was a Cowboy at heart and I'm told he loved his horse as much as anything in life. Enjoy endlessly long and beautiful rides in the Great Prairie in the sky, my friend!

Wow, I never would imagine I'd outlive that guy. Was a great room mate, had awesome fun times at the party house. I'm blown away. Any ideas what he died of/from sorry to see you go man. Thanks for the many fun times. You will be missed.

Pete Mark was a kind and reliable friend through thick and thin. I have fond memories of Pete when he water skied at the Salton Sea with a group of friends from SPHS. He will be missed.

Peter lived life to its fullest. Whatever he put his mind to he did it. He won awards and top prizes in everything he did from his top fuel funny car "Vicious Circle" , drag and circle boat racing, skeet shooting, water skiing, motorcycles and horses. Music was a passion for him and enjoyed concerts especially the Grateful Dead . In the '80's we went to and saw every punk rock band that played in LA.  He loved challenges and adventures. He lived bravely with ALS for the last almost 3 years. I asked him if he was afraid of dying earlier this year and he said no , that he had a wonderful, fulfilling good life and he got to experience a lot. I was so happy when he said that, I felt he was at peace. I just didn't know the goodbye would come so soon.
He will be forever missed and forever loved. ❤️

Peter was wonderful man who had a heart of Gold.  Met Peter in  the Fall of 1972  while attending SoPas HS. Peter was a sophomore and I was a Senior . We would hang out for morning break at  the High School talking about everything under the sun while munching on our Honey Bun we bought from the  vending machine.
Peter was a UCLA Guy and he came to my house with several Tigers to watch the SC UCLA game on several occasions.  It was always awesome to see Peter pursue his passion for love of horses and riding. I was saddened to hear that Peter has left us too soon but his spirit and kindness and friendship  will always live on and I hope to see Pete again on the other side  "RIP Cowboy"  - Griff
