Gordy owned Atkinson's Men's Clothing in Newport Beach. He is survived by his partner of 27 years, Victoria Solinger; his daughter, Samantha Karson, two granddaughters; and sister, Melanie Atkinson LaPointe '62.
Our class of '56 is gradually fading away. Gordy and I both entered Kindergarten at Lincoln School in the fall of 1943. There were times when I went to Gordy's home. The first time I ever slept outdoors in a sleeping bag was in his backyard. We knew each other until our high school graduation. His family has my sympathy. Larry McHargue
Gordon was a close friend--since graduation in 1956 I saw him often over many years at Lido Is. when I was back from university, or on leave from active duty, and during the two years I was living in Los Angeles. Always a quick laugh or two at memories of various adventures with other classmates. Lotta neckties, suits, sport coats, still in my closet some place with the Atkinsons label. I think of him every time I grab a tie for one occasion (infrequent) or another.
